The College of Engineering and Technology (CoET) is a semi-autonomuous campus College of the University of Dar es Salaam.

Jamidu Hizzam Katima is a Leader of our research group and a professor of Chemical Engineering in the Department of Chemical and Mining Engineering at the University of Dar es salaam . He is also the Principal of the College of Engineering and Technology (COET) of the University of Dar es salaam. Prof. Katima does lecture both undergraduate and postgraduate students mainly in Unit operations and Environmental Engineering.

Professor Katima obtained his PhD in 1990 at Leeds University, a master degree at Loughborough University in 1986 and a bachelor degree in 1982 at the University of Dar es salaam. Currently, Prof. Katima is a registered expert with the Scientific and Technical Advisory Pannel (STAP) of the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), Registered United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) Expert - Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Methodologies and registered Consulting Engineer with the Tanzania Engineering Registration Board and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET).

His research interest has been in the area of environmental management particularly in the application of eco-technologies in treatment of industrial wastewaters. He is also interested in Ecological modelling, Mass transfer and Reaction kinetics. Below are the researches and publications by Prof. Katima.
